Ingo Mittelstaedt (born 1978 in Berlin, lives in Berlin and Hamburg) produces staged photographs, which he in part combines with different objects to form and then juxtapose spatial installations. He examines various themes and picture materials in his pictorial arrangements, which could derive from a museum context or conventional advertising brochures. Themes such a showing, suggesting, emphasising and visualising are frequently important criteria for his selection of motifs. As such, Ingo Mittelstaedt humorously and subtly explores the potentials and limitations of the medium of photography in his works.

Mittelstaedt has already had numerous institutional exhibitions. In addition, he was awarded the 2009/2010 “Gute Aussichten – New German Photography” prize and received the 2015 New York grant of the Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung and the State of Lower Saxony.
