Regionale DELTABEBEN 2024

Since its inception, the Regionale DELTABEBEN has showcased a biennial survey of the regional contemporary art scene in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan area, alternating between Mannheim and Ludwigshafen. In 2024, the established exhibition project will be held for the seventh time, returning to Ludwigshafen. In this year’s edition, the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum and the Kunstverein Ludwigshafen will present the work of 21 outstanding artists from different generations, all of whom live and work in the extended Rhine-Neckar area. The participating artists were selected by a total of 11 nominators—curators, art critics, or academy professors from the region, as well as representatives of the hosting exhibition institutions. There was no age restriction for nominations, but artists were required to have participated in no more than two previous editions of the Regionale Deltabeben. Thanks to this limitation, the recent Deltabeben exhibitions, along with their accompanying catalogs, have developed into an ongoing record of the art scene in the Rhine-Neckar region.

This latest edition of Deltabeben presents an interesting and diverse picture of the art scene in the extended region, featuring artistic positions from various generations and media. The special appeal of this survey exhibition lies in its stylistic diversity and the broad range of artistic techniques on display: painting, drawing, photography, and video, as well as sculpture, installation, and performance, are all represented. Interestingly, all of these works explore, in different ways, societal, political, historical, or sociological questions. Through artistic expression, they illuminate both the past and the present, often encouraging reflection on the shaping of the future.

Die Installation von Cynthia Wijono "Nest III" ist zu sehen. Die Installation besteht aus einer Metallstange, auf der drei kugelförmige Gestalten angebracht sind. Am Fuß der Skulptur befindet sich eine größere Kugel. Die Installation ist in den Farben Braun, Weiß, Grün und Goldbraun gehalten. Die Kugeln bestehen aus verschiedenen Materialien wie Karton, Draht, selbstgeschöpftem Papier, Blättern, Rinde, Tannennadeln, Schellack und Müll.Still aus "Power's Keeper" von Dajana Krüger. Im Zentrum des Stills stehen drei weiblich gelesene Personen. Die beiden Personen auf der linken und rechten Seite stützen ihr Kinn auf die Schulter der mittleren Person.Fotografisches Werk von Fritzi Haußmann. Eine Figur steht dreiviertelgewendet vor einem Container. Die Person ist schwarz gekleidet und trägt eine große Menge zusammengenähter Radschläuche. Diese sind sowohl auf dem Kopf, der vollständig von den Schläuchen verdeckt ist, als auch auf dem Oberkörper und den Armen angebracht. Die Person wurde in Bewegung fotografiert, wobei sich die Schläuche wie Fransen mit ihr bewegen.
Fotografisches Werk von Laura Gaiser. Im Foyer des Wilhelm-Hack-Museums, mit der Glasfront des Museums im Hintergrund, steht eine Person auf einem mit plastischen Werken verzierten Karussell-Strauß. Die Person ist als Strauß verkleidet, wobei sie Federn trägt und eine Handpuppe mit dem Gesicht eines Straußes hält, um ihre Silhouette der eines Straußes zu imitieren. Werk von Markus Kaesler. Eine schwarz-weiß Fotografie, auf der Blätter abgebildet sind, wobei ihre Umrisslinien in Weiß hervorgehoben sind.
